Most doors can be shielded with a single standard Door Finger Protector® HC (Hinge Cavity) shield.

The shield must not be allowed to act like an anchor restricting the door’s full swing.

In such cases you can easily piggyback extend the shield with another shield using Anti-Implode Straps normally supplied as HC-X (Extended).

For much larger doors and opening angles install the HCL (Hinge Cavity Large). Use the door opening guide to identify shield required.

What you'll need

1. A blunt blade, such as a dinner knife.

2. Small steps, if you need extra height to reach the top of the door.

Steps to detach the shield

1. Insert the blunt blade into the top of the channel. Prise one edge of the T-section out of the channel. This is easier with the door open.

2. Once the top edge of the T-section is exposed, draw the blade downward to release that edge fully from the channel.

3. Pull the whole T-section away from the channel. The shield, still attached to the door, will now fold back. You'll have full access to the hinge cavity.

Steps to reattach the shield

1. Insert one edge of the T-section into the channel, then insert the second edge into the top of the channel.

2. Using the blunt blade, draw downward to press the exposed edge of the T-section fully into the channel.
